MARTINEZ — Jurors have acquitted one man and convicted another of stabbing to death a Bethel Island man in 2005.
After two days of deliberations, jurors Wednesday found Pittsburg resident Daniel Jones, 27, guilty of second-degree murder and personal use of a knife for killing Keith Wolf, 21, outside an Antioch apartment building on April 25, 2005.
The jury found Jones’ co-defendant, Michael Madison, 35, of Antioch, not guilty. He was charged with murder as an aider and abettor — helping Jones chase down Wolf and then driving him from the crime scene as Wolf bled to death.
A trail of Jones’ blood led investigators from the stabbing scene to the car used that night, prosecutor Dana Filkowski said at trial.
Filkowski said Jones and Madison picked up Wolf from a BART station after he had been released from prison and then attacked him because of his protective custody status while he had been incarcerated with the defendants.
