Michelle Gomez joined the Law Office of Johnson & Johnson October 2021 as a Legal Administrative Assistant. She is a bilingual Spanish speaker with 6-years of experience working in defense-oriented organization. She received her B.A in Psychology, B.S in Criminal Justice and minor in Sociology from California State University, East Bay.
She spent two years working at HOPE Psychotherapy Inc., a mental health clinic that serve those who are on probation or parole, helping clients build trauma-focused coping skills that reduce their likelihood of recidivating. She then went on to work at East Bay Family Defenders, a non-profit law firm that supported parents going through the child welfare system.
Michelle is the daughter of immigrant parents from El Salvador, she grew up in South-Central Los Angeles, where she saw first-hand the collateral consequences that may result in involvement with law enforcement. She was also a teen mother and has worked hard to raise her daughter and provide better life opportunities. Because of her professional and lived experience she is committed to supporting the firm in their fight for defendants’ and parents’ rights in court.
Michelle hopes to continue her education and pursue her law degree, where she will continue to represent communities that are targeted on a systemic level, including on the basis of race, economic class, and immigration status.
